PLANETS

PLANETS is a series of graphic prints united by the circular form and created using mixed printmaking techniques, including linocut, monotype, and author’s print.

In this project, the circle functions not as a decorative element but as a conceptual foundation. Having neither beginning nor end, it exists beyond linear time and operates as a universal sign of continuity, cycles, and return. The circle becomes a portal — simultaneously an entrance and an exit — an opening that can be read both as a cosmic space and as a bodily reference, evoking the image of an umbilical cord.

Through this form, I reflect on my own roots, identity, and the notion of home. Is home the place where one is born, or the place where one exists here and now? Can home be mobile, like a planet moving along its orbit, constantly shifting its position?

The circle acts as a lens or optical instrument. It cuts off peripheral vision and concentrates the viewer’s gaze, inviting them to look inward, as if through a telescope or a microscope. This focused vision creates a sense of intimacy and immersion within a closed, autonomous world. The eye does not rest but circulates within the form, generating a feeling of softness, continuity, and internal movement, even within static images.

The title PLANETS emphasizes the connection to nature and ecological thinking. The planet is understood as a living system — a space where memory, body, landscape, and time coexist. The graphic works function as speculative maps of inner and outer territories, where the boundary between the personal and the universal gradually dissolves.
